What do you buy?

You name it, we will buy it!!!
During the recycling process when the metal is melted down toxic gasses are released into the air from the electricity that traveled through it. This is an environmental issue that our refinery is not equipped to handle and we want to be responsible as to how we impact the environment and the safety of our employees.
What if my items aren't marked?
We will sort through and test your items free of charge in just minutes. We
have the ability to determine if something is Gold, Silver or Platinum, what
carat it is and if diamonds are genuine.
What if I'm not sure if something is Gold?
If you aren't sure about something bring it or send it in anyway. It is
quick and easy for us to sort through your items and we will separate anything
that isn't gold. That way you don't miss out on additional dollars
if you leave something that is gold at home.
What if my jewelry has diamonds or gemstones in it?
Generally we do not pay extra for diamonds or gemstones. If you would like to
keep them to reuse we can remove them on the spot or remove them and send them
back to you for our mail in customers. If you wish to remove them before hand,
that is fine too.
How much do you pay?
What we pay depends on several factors- the percentage of Gold, Silver or Platinum
(or carat), the weight of the items and the current value of that material as
it trades on the New York Stock Exchange. Prices can change several times per
day so it is best to stop in for quick quote or call for more info.
We are paying for the gold, silver or platinum content in your items- the design,
craftsmanship and retail price you paid for them are not factored in. 99% of
what we buy is melted down and reused for another purpose.
Do I need to make an appointment?
No! Please stop by our store anytime- the quoting process is very quick and
you will be in and out in no time. Our store hours are M-F 9:30am - 5:00pm Sat 9:30am - 2:00pm. Or use our secure mail-in option 24/7 and save yourself a trip!
How do you pay?
For safety reasons we do not keep any cash in our retail store. We pay by business
check. You are welcome to take that check to your bank or you can take it to
any Woodforest National Bank location and they will cash it for you free of
charge even if you don't have an account with them. You can find Woodforest
locations in many of the newer Wal-Mart stores around the country including
the one in Denver, NC- approximately 1 mile from our store.
How old do I have to be to sell my gold to Gold and Silver Assay Company?
All customers must be 18 years of age. If you are younger than that, bring a
parent or have your parent send your items in to us.

Mail-in specific questions:
How should I send my items in?
Once you fill out the request form on this website, we will mail you a prepaid
envelope with some instructions on it. Just drop your items inside, follow the
instructions and take the envelope to any Fed Ex or Fed Ex authorized shipper
locations to be shipped. It's that simple.
PLEASE be sure to take the package in to a Fed Ex or Fed Ex authorized shipping location to be scanned in.
Dropping this type of package in a drop box is very unsecure and is not recommended by the Gold and Silver Assay Company or Fed Ex.
If your package is not scanned into the Fed Ex system it will not be covered under their insurance.
What if my items get lost during shipping? Am I covered?
We will insure the contents of your envelope for $100. Any additional coverage
you wish to have is available to you at your expense.
PLEASE be sure to take the package in to a Fed Ex or Fed Ex authorized shipping location to be scanned in.
Dropping this type of package in a drop box is very unsecure and is not recommended by the Gold and Silver Assay Company or Fed Ex.
If your package is not scanned into the Fed Ex system it will not be covered under their insurance.
Can I ship my items myself with my packaging?
Of course! You are welcome to send in your items. Just be sure to fill out the
request form or send us an email saying you are going to do so. We need to know
to expect your shipment and to be able to send you some instructions to go along
with your shipment.
How will I know that you got my items?
When we receive your envelope we will contact you in the manner that you choose
and let you know that your package arrived safely.
From the time I send off my package, how long can I expect to wait before I
receive an offer?
Your prepaid envelope will ship Fed Ex ground to our shop in Denver, NC (zip
28037). Transit time can vary from 1 day to 7 days. Once we receive your order
we will process it within 24 hrs and make you an offer.
I am not sure I want to sell my items- can you just give me a price first?
For every single order once your items have been sorted and tested we will email
you your offer complete with pictures or tell you via phone if that is what
you prefer.
From that point you have a maximum of 5 calendar days to decide if you want
to sell your items. If you want to sell we will write you a check immediately
and mail it out that day. If you decide that you don't want to sell we
will work with you to make arrangements to ship your items back to you at your
expense.
How quickly can I expect to receive payment for my items?
Once you have accepted our offer, we will mail out a check the very same day.
What if I am unhappy with your offer?
If you are not satisfied with what we have offered you for your items we are
more than happy to return them to you. Just contact us to make arrangements
to have them shipped back to you at your expense.
Do you need any information from me in order to complete my transaction?
Yes. We need your name, correct mailing address, email address and telephone
number so that we can mail you the prepaid envelope and contact you with an
offer.
We also need the following information from your driver's license: DL
number and state, date issued, date expired, date of birth, sex, height, hair
color, eye color. We are regulated like a pawn shop because we buy things from
people and require this information from our customers per North Carolina state
law. There will be a form inside your prepaid envelope on which you can include
this information or you may include a copy of your valid driver's license
if you wish.
